I was listening to Leo LaPorte, The Tech Guy on Sunday and heard someone ask about video description for people who are blind.
This is a service where someone is describing the visual things that are going on in a television show or movie. This enables someone who is blind to know what is happening without someone else trying to explain things.
There are several television shows that are currently providing this service but due to how the FCC created their rules, not every television station is required to pass along the audio for this service. The same goes for cable & satellite providers, however they seem more willing and able to do so.
Its all a matter of money, but as the next few years pass by, more and more stations will be required to provide this service along with a certain number of shows that have description.
